Sands Hotel and Casino
The Sands opened on the Las Vegas Strip in December 1952. Its Copa Room hosted Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. during the 1950s and 1960s.
The original low-rise hotel expanded in the 1960s, including construction of a circular tower. The resort closed on June 30, 1996, and the hotel was imploded that November. The Venetian was later developed on the former Sands site.
