Skyline's history reaches back beyond the casino to the Dixie Bar, which was operating by 1948 in the community then known as Pittman. UNLV's Southern Nevada Neon Survey records the Skyline casino and restaurant being built on the property in 1964.

The name did not remain unchanged throughout that history. The survey notes a brief period as the Wheel before Skyline returned. It also records Jim Marsh's purchase in 2003. Those changes belong to the same site's story, without implying that all of its buildings and signs survived intact.

The supplied postcard captures Skyline as a low roadside casino and restaurant, with a tall sign intended to catch a motorist's eye. It represents a historical view rather than the complete present-day hotel complex.

Hotel accommodation was added much later than the casino's beginnings. UNLV's survey and the current operator account differ on the exact expansion year, so this introduction leaves that date unresolved. When checked in October 2026, the operator presented Skyline as an active hotel and casino with dining and live entertainment at its Boulder Highway address.

What remains uncertain

  • Opening is recorded at year precision for the Skyline casino/restaurant, not for the earlier Dixie Bar or later hotel.
  • UNLV's survey gives June 2017 for the hotel addition; the current operator About Us page says 2018. The exact expansion chronology remains unresolved.
  • The user-supplied postcard is undated; its illustrated frontage and sign should not be treated as current-condition evidence.
