Silver Sevens stands at Paradise and East Flamingo roads, on the site of the Continental hotel-casino that opened in 1980. Its history has involved successive owners and extensive remodeling while the property remained a smaller alternative to the Strip’s giant resorts.
The Continental closed on March 31, 1999, after financial difficulties. Contemporary closure reporting preserved the management’s farewell to customers. The Herbst family subsequently acquired and renovated the property, reopening it as Terrible’s Hotel and Casino on December 6, 2000. Fireworks marked an opening that drew a crowd described as thousands.
Terrible’s was aimed particularly at local customers, including people working at Strip casinos. Herbst’s later company filing described its position roughly a mile east of the Strip as a way to reach those customers away from the busiest resort corridor. The Las Vegas hotel-casino was distinct from other Terrible’s-branded properties in Pahrump, Henderson, Searchlight and, later, Jean.
An eighteen-month renovation preceded another change of name in 2013. Contemporary reporting described upgraded rooms, a new sportsbook and bar, while the cowboy sign associated with Terrible’s was being removed. A property announcement set out a week of Silver Sevens launch celebrations beginning July 1. The new name carried forward an existing hotel-casino after renovation.
In November 2023, Affinity announced plans to bring back the Continental name, with a rooftop venue and Pink Taco restaurant among the proposed changes. The following year, CEO Scott Butera told The Nevada Independent that the rebrand was on hold while the company considered its approach. These were proposals, not evidence that the Continental had reopened.
When checked in October 2026, the operator continued to use Silver Sevens Hotel and Casino and advertised hotel rooms, gaming and dining at 4100 Paradise Road. The map marks a point within the current main building. It does not reconstruct the original Continental footprint or imply that every addition dates from 1980.
