Sassy Sally’s Casino operated on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas from 1980 to 1999. Its name belonged to an earlier chapter of the premises later known as Mermaids, rather than to the neighboring Glitter Gulch venue.
The casino’s sign helps explain how a small Fremont Street business could make itself visible among larger neighbors. Designer Charles Barnard drew on the saloon imagery of the 1890s and used bold red and yellow lettering. The Neon Museum preserves the sign and documents its design, allowing the casino’s visual identity to outlast the business.
