Red Rock opened in Summerlin on April 18, 2006, bringing a large resort hotel, casino and entertainment complex to the western Las Vegas Valley. Its setting beside Charleston Boulevard and the 215 Beltway made it a destination for nearby residents as well as visitors staying away from the Strip. The desert-oasis design drew on the surrounding landscape rather than an imported city or historical spectacle.
The resort was a new construction project. Station Casinos’ 2004 annual report records construction beginning in April that year, with the hotel, restaurants, spa, meeting spaces and entertainment facilities planned as a coordinated development. The initial hotel opened with more than 400 rooms. A further hotel phase and bowling center were already being developed around the opening period.
The distinction between opening and completion matters here. The company’s later annual report describes the additional hotel rooms as a late-2006 phase and the 72-lane bowling center as an April 2007 expansion. Contemporary filings differ slightly in how they date the hotel phase; together they show a resort still growing after its first casino opening.
Red Rock’s combination of gaming with cinema, bowling, restaurants and a pool complex made it more than an overnight hotel. It brought several kinds of leisure onto one site, an approach suited to repeat visits from the surrounding Valley. These facilities were parts of the same resort, rather than separate casinos created by successive names.
The site also passed through Station’s wider financial reorganization. The successor company’s 2011 filing lists Red Rock among the properties acquired through that process. Corporate ownership changed without replacing the resort’s identity.
Later investment refreshed the existing property. Lotus of Siam’s Red Rock restaurant debuted in 2022, and the company’s 2023 report listed new high-limit gaming rooms among its amenities. In 2026, Station marked the resort’s twentieth anniversary with plans for poolside entertainment and a culinary celebration.
When checked in October 2026, Red Rock remained an operating hotel-casino at 11011 West Charleston Boulevard. Its history is one of expansion and renewal at the same resort, not the replacement of an earlier casino on the site established by these sources.
