Main Street Station’s hotel history begins in 1978, when the property opened as the Holiday International. Its Victorian styling and railway-themed name came later. The present casino hotel at 200 North Main Street incorporates that earlier hotel, rather than occupying a nineteenth-century passenger station.
Holiday International and the Park
The first years brought interrupted operations and a succession of names. Las Vegas Advisor’s retrospective records the Holiday International casino closing in 1980, followed by the hotel’s closure in 1984. The property subsequently operated as the Park Hotel and Casino. These were earlier phases of the hotel complex that became Main Street Station, not neighboring casinos replaced by an entirely new resort.
Snow’s themed hotel and casino
Florida developer Bob Snow gave the property its Main Street Station identity in 1991. A contemporary Nevada Magazine account describes the recently renovated Park Hotel incorporated into a new themed hotel-casino, drawing inspiration from Snow’s Church Street Station attraction in Orlando. Period architecture, uniforms, railway cars and collected objects formed part of the concept. Its proposed additional buildings were plans, however; that account does not establish that the full scheme was built.
Closure and a new owner
The venture closed in 1992, and Boyd acquired Main Street Station in 1993. Las Vegas Advisor describes an intermediate period when Boyd used hotel rooms for overflow guests from its other Downtown properties while the casino remained closed. The property’s later return as a full hotel-casino was therefore a reopening and renovation of an existing complex.
The Boyd reopening
Boyd’s current fact sheet dates its Main Street Station opening to 1996. That date belongs to the Boyd era, while the hotel’s origins and Snow’s themed casino preceded it. The property’s continuing identity combines a casino with dining and brewing: the operator’s May 2025 account describes Triple 7 Restaurant and Microbrewery, Garden Court dining and an antique collection that includes a displayed portion of the Berlin Wall.
The pandemic interruption and return
Another long interruption began on March 18, 2020, when the property closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Boyd’s annual filing records its reopening on September 8, 2021. A subsequent hotel-room remodel was completed in the fourth quarter of 2023. Main Street Station remains an operating Downtown hotel and casino, with its present name connecting several chapters of reuse and renovation at the same site.

Las Vegas Advisor’s 2021 retrospective gives a 1986 Snow purchase date that conflicts with other accounts; that purchase year is not adopted.
