Vegas Retold

The history of Little Caesars Casino and Sports Book

Closed 1994

Little Caesars was a small independent casino and sports book in the Churchill Downs Shopping Center at 3665 Las Vegas Boulevard South. The Las Vegas Advisor’s recollections describe a storefront gambling business with table games as well as a betting counter, separate from the neighboring Churchill Downs book.

Little Caesars represents a kind of Strip gambling venue that is easy to lose sight of among resort histories: an independent operation fitted into a shopping center. Recognizing that distinction helps explain why historical accounts mention both Little Caesars and Churchill Downs at the same street address without referring to the same business.

What remains uncertain

  • Published recollections disagree on the opening year, giving 1968 or 1970; the opening field is therefore left unspecified.
  • Closure is recorded at year precision as 1994.
  • The old shopping-center address does not establish an exact point within present-day redevelopment.
