Cannery opened on the evening of January 2, 2003, at Craig and Losee roads in North Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Sun reported its Thursday-night debut the next morning. Industrial styling gave the new hotel-casino the look of a factory town.
The company’s later account described a World War II industrial theme, carried through a three-story hotel. Gaming sat alongside restaurants, a cinema and an indoor-outdoor entertainment venue used for community festivals and sporting events. The mix gave nearby residents several reasons to return to the same property.
An expansion completed in 2006 enlarged that offering. Cannery Casino Resorts subsequently built a second Las Vegas Valley property, Eastside Cannery, on Boulder Highway. The shared name and industrial theme connected the two resorts commercially, but they occupied separate sites: the original Cannery remained in North Las Vegas.
Boyd Gaming completed its purchase of Cannery and Eastside Cannery on December 20, 2016. The acquisition brought the two properties into a broader local-casino portfolio while preserving their separate identities and locations.
The pandemic later sent them in different directions. Boyd’s 2020 report records Cannery closing on March 18 and reopening on June 4. Eastside Cannery stayed closed. Its later demolition belongs to the Boulder Highway site’s history, not to this operating North Las Vegas hotel-casino.
When checked in October 2026, the operator continued to present Cannery as an active hotel, casino, dining and entertainment destination at 2121 East Craig Road. The map identifies an area within the main hotel-casino building, beside the separate cinema. It is a representative property location rather than a visitor entrance or the boundary of all the grounds.
